It's time yet again for another edition of Vintage 101! I'm your host, Joe Dyer, and this week we're continuing our cram study sessions on various decks for Vintage Eternal Weekend 2021 (which is next weekend). I have beaten opponents who sided in 9+ hate pieces by just playing out Hollow ones after they mull looking for hate, or stalling the first 1-2 hate pieces and buying myself enough time to get on the board. You can run cards like force of will, mental misstep, spinning darkness, mindbreak trap, and unmask among others to prevent your opponent from killing you first (a real worry in Vintage), as well as to fight through hate. You have game against every deck, thanks to a very consistent turn 3 kills (some builds consistently look to kill on turn 2) that's hard to stop G1 along with cabal therapies and a lot of flex spots for interaction. ![]() I think it definitely holds up against the format. I've played Vintage dredge (proxied, but I'm looking to start putting together the real thing) at a bunch of local events. ![]()
